Helping Students Adjust in a Pandemic
This September, the Brothers of Psi Chapter along with the Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated presented the annual Student Survival Guide for incoming freshmen. The event was tailored to provide helpful information for these new students, and help them get acclimated to their rapidly changing environments. In the past we have provided helpful school tips, places to study, resources on campus, and good places to eat. However, with the switch to virtual classes, the event focus was shifted to provide helpful information on study habits, tips for virtual classes, and how to get settled once campus opens up. It was a great event to have alongside Gamma and we hope to continue its tradition.
Placing a Focus On Mental Health
In October, Brothers of Psi Chapter alongside with the Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the University of Pennsylvania Counseling and Psychology Services held an event titled Soul Food. The purpose of this event was to create a safe space, encourage discussion around mental health during COVID-19, and provide useful tips on how students can take care of themselves. This event ran extremely well as many students were very open in sharing their experiences with anxiety, paranoia, and depression during this pandemic, giving way for many emotional moments and necessary conversation.
